A Richmond native, David has two psychology degrees from Eastern Kentucky University . After several years of active clinical practice, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2001.

David began his legal career at a public interest law firm, after which he began a successful independent law practice.

He is a member of the Madison County Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association and the Kentucky Justice Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Appalachian Research and Defense Fund of Kentucky.
